LLANTILIO PERTHOLEY WI: In the absence of the president, Mrs Jan Prosser welcomed members after the summer break.
The August/September letter was read and arrangements were made for the Harvest break.
The guest speaker was Suzanne Mainwaring, who was brought up in the village of Llanelen and is now a Director of the Noah’s Ark Appeal. Her talk focused on how the Noah’s Ark Appeal has raised £12million over the last ten years as a result of the efforts of numerous people from all over Wales.
The official opening of the Children’s Hospital of Wales, phase one, took place place in 2006. It has treated children with a range of medical conditions, including cancer. Phase two has yet to be completed.
The appeal hopes to raise a quarter of a million pounds to support the second phase with a new theatre suite and surgical unit, as well as raising funds for an open MRI scanner and critical care equipment. A vote of thanks was given by Mrs Bonnie Russell. Lesley Flynn
