Thirty-one children enjoyed Chinese-themed stories at the first of Chepstow Library’s summer storytimes.

They listened to ‘Chopsticks’ by Jon Berkeley; ‘The Dragon Kite’ by Kenneth Steven; ‘A Tale of Two Pandas’ by Adrienne Kennaway and ‘Monkeys in Hats’ by Saviour Pirotta). Everyone then made a Chinese dragon to take home with them.

The next session w ill take place on Thursday, August 21 between 11:00am and noon and there will be sports stories to listen to and a hare and tortoise puppet to make and take home.

The stories and activities are suitable for children aged five to eight years. The story-time is free but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

These sessions are being held as part of the annual Summer Reading Challenge project. There is still time to join in with the main reading challenge. Simply pick up a record card from Chepstow Library. You are then challenged to read six books to earn colourful stickers to complete your card.
