GOLD CHALLENGE:  Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from the Chepstow and Caldicot area will be taking part in the County’s Gold Challenge this weekend.

The main focus for the day will be in Beaufort Square, Chepstow, where activities such as panning for gold, making S’mores (if you don’t know what this is, come along and see what you are missing), a treasure trail, memory tree and an exhibition of Duke of Edinburgh expeditions will be taking place.

The event takes place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, September 27, and the youngsters and their leaders would like to invite you to come along, say hello, and find out more about what is involved in volunteering with Girlguiding Gwent.

Kaeren Jones, commissioner for Chepstow, said: “We would love to encourage more volunteers to come forward to join in the fun and to help us provide exciting activities for our young women.

“Several units in Chepstow could use a little more help, a Brownie pack in Caldicot also need another leader, while further help would be welcome with both a Rainbow and Guide group.

“Help is particularly needed in Penhow and Magor. Job shares are possible – tell us what you can offer and we will find something to suit your availability and skills.”
