Plans to build eight flats in Chepstow may obscure the view of the town’s historic Town Wall, according to neighbours and local societies.
The two blocks of flats will take the place of a bungalow and garage, which will be demolished, at The Studio on Garden City Way.
Neighbours have objected saying the historic town wall will be obscured, there will be a loss of privacy and building work may harm the existing boundary walls.
Chepstow Town Council wants the project refused because of the visual impact the buildings will have on the nearby conservation area.
The council also said it is a site of historical and archaeological interest, which needs to be preserved, and is backed by the Chepstow Society.
The planning application will be considered at a meeting of Monmouthshire county council planning committee on February 17.
The project is recommended for approval.
