Sunday, March 30th was the fifth Sunday of the month. Whenever there is a fifth Sunday a joint service for the four parishes is held in one of the parishes in turn. This time it was Skenfrith.

Several of the bell-ringers were away but three of the Skenfrith ringers were joined by two ringers from Grosmont so the bells were rung for this rather special service.

The Rev Dr Jean Prosser took the service. Children from the Grosmont church choir sang the opening hymn and with them were four children from Llanvair church who will be the basis of the Llanvair choir.

Also present were those who are going to be confirmed by the bishop later this year. They were each given a folder with details of their studies to be completed before confirmation.

The two people who will help them with this were also present - they are Sally Tyler and Louise Minford. It was good to see the church full on this occasion and after the service members of the Skenfrith PCC served tea and biscuits at the back of the church.
