Last Saturday the Guild of St Agatha came to Skenfrith as part of their "Cardiff Outing".

This is the Catholic Association of Bellringers - but it is not limited just to Catholics. The Guild welcomes membership from anyone involved in the ringing of church bells. The Guild has members country -wide and probably even world-wide.

The first person to arrive at St. Bridget's church on Saturday morning had come from Farnborough; the second from Leeds and yet another from Preston in Lancashire. I don't know where the rest were from.

They seemed to enjoy ringing our bells. The Guild organises three events every year during which members ring at a number of churches in a particular area, with a good pub lunch in the middle of the day.

After ringing the Skenfrith bells the group moved on to Llangattock church and from there to Llantilio Crossenny.

Lunch was taken at the Hogs Head at Great Treadam before the last three towers were visited. These were in Abergavenny, Llanarth and Usk.

It was a lovely day and well over 20 people came from far and wide to ring our bells.
