Our area is blessed with a welcome variety of quality concerts, usually to raise funds for worthy charities.

On Saturday 11th July, Gwent Police Choir hosts a mixed voice choir from New York State.

The Oneida Civic Chorale is on a short tour of Europe and the Gwent Police Choir is one of only two Welsh choirs chosen to act as hosts.

The Chorale has a wonderfully varied repertoire and has been well received at home and where ever it travels.

The venue is Beechwood Park Presbyterian Church at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 and may be purchased from Bill Taylor Tel: 257 601, Ron Comfort Tel: 667 899 or on the door.

All proceeds to charity.

On Thursday 16th July, the Rotary Club of Newport is presenting “An Evening of Music” at St Julian’s School, Heather Road.

Starting at 7pm. Tickets £5. Performing will be the Greater Gwent Schools’ Brass Band, St Julian’s School Band and Eveswell and St Julian’s Junior School choirs.

Proceeds for the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.

This will be an evening which will give our young people an opportunity to show case their talents and at the same time raise money for the benefit of less fortunate youngsters.
