Date for your diary - The association's fete will be held this year on Saturday, July 7, at Windsor Road Field, Six Bells and will be opened at 12 noon by Blaenau Gwent MP, Dai Davies.

We would like to thank Councillors Jim Watkins and Denzil Hancock for their kind donation of £100 towards the prizes on the day, Link Cymru for their continued financial support, Flyover Garage, Aberbeeg for again providing a first prize in the raffle of £100 worth of vouchers; Councillor Steve Bard for providing thesecond prize of an iPod and Community Councillor Mary Holland for sponsoring the printing of the raffle tickets.

Events at this year's feteinclude the Wacky obstacle course for the adults and welly-throwing competition bothwith cash prizes of £25, £15 and £10 for both male and female winners. The children's sports will once again berun by Mr Price head teacher at Bryngwyn Primary School and pupils from the school will be on hand throughout the afternoon to entertain us with their singing.

Blaenau Gwent Council's Active living team will also be on hand to offer Bleep tests.

There will be two tests. The first at 1pm and the second at 2pm.

There will be prizes for the top three male and female results. Health checks will also be carried out such as body fat, blood pressure, lung function tests and information will also be available on nutrition and active living.

Circuit training taster sessions will also be held every hour at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.So come along and not only enjoy a family day out but get fit and health in the process.

We will have a large number of stalls offering a variety of attractions, including face painting and a bouncy castle.

The fire brigade will also be on hand to demonstrate how to handle a chip pan fire and will also be bringing their engine to entertain the children.

ABERTILLERY COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL - FRIENDS ASSOCIATION: There will be no more meetings this academic year but we would welcome new parents to attend our meeting in September.

Date for your diary - July 5, at 5.30pm- Latin/American Music Evening in the school courtyard. Come along and enjoy some Latin American music.

There will also be a barbecue, raffle and refreshments available.

7 July - Six Bells Fete - The Friends Association are having a stall at the fete and would welcome your support,so why not come along and see what we have to offer.

16 July, at 4.30pm -Duck race at Abertillery Park.Ducks are available from the reception desk school at £1 each.

Prizes are: 1st prize -£25; 2nd prize £15; 3rd prize £10.Please purchase a duck and help support the Comprehensive school.

MATES: MATES is a self-supporting group for ladies who meet at the Stute every Thursday from 10.30am-noon.
