YETI IN THE PARK: Communities First and Tillery Action for Youth are organising a fun-filled day for Abertillery youngsters on Wednesday, July 25, starting at 1pm and running until 9.30pm, in Abertillery Park.

Tillery Action for Youth have been awarded a grant of £5,000 from the Lottery-funded programme, Make It Happen', which is helping towards the cost of the festival.

All activities are FREE. Sports activities will include: Football, archery, tap rugby, bowls, climbing wall and inflatables.

Arts activities will include: African drumming, stilt walkers, local bands, DJ'ing, MC, rap, graffiti, belly dancing, break dancing and circus skills. There will be food available - This is an alcohol-free event.

BUS TRIP: Abertillery Over 60s Club is organising a summer trip to Weston on, August 15, price and pick up points to be arranged.

PRE-SEASON TRAINING: If you're aged between seven years and 16 years, and would like to become a future rugby star, then now could be your chance!

The Green and Whites, Abertillery Mini and Junior RFC, are holding pre-season training sessions, and all age groups between under 8s to under 16s are covered.

ABERTILLERY LADIES ORPHEUS CHOIR NEWS: M M Lowman, publicity officer has sent the following report - The ladies concert at Christchurch Govilon on July 14 was a great success.

The Rev Alex Pye thanked the choir, musical director Steve Bard and accompanist Lyndon Stevens.

The choir's new president is Mr Chris Needs, vice-president Mr Keith Dykes.
