HELPING YOU TO CARE: This is a one-day course for people who care for someone with mental health problems.

On November 26 between 9.30am-4pm at The Talisman, Brynmawr.

The facilitators are Sally Davies NHS and Rita Holland Blaenau Gwent Social Services.

RSVP: The Retired & Senior Volunteer Programme are supporting many people over the age of 50 years in Blaenau Gwent who are giving up some of their time to listen to children read in their local primary schools.

They are currently looking for grandparents and persons over 50 who have spare time on their hands to help out in local schools across the area.

REMINISCENCE PROJECT: RSVP is currently running a Reminiscence Project for the over 50s.

If you have any spare time and are interested in sharing skills, experiences or perhaps learning new ones, then volunteering opportunities may be for you.

RSVP are interested in recording memories of local people who lived through the Second World War, working with local children and projects commemorating work on the Home Front during the War.

HALLOWE'EN FUN: Witches, warlocks, skeletons and things that go bump in the night turned up at the Coed Cae Centre Nantyglo on October 31.

There were prizes for best male costume, female costume and the scariest! There were hot dogs and a disco so the hundred or so that turned up had a very good night.

This is just one of the things put on at the Centre. There are classes for lots of things - all you have to do is ring Wendy on (01495)291962 and she will tell you if there's a class for you. Most of them are free of charge.
