PARKS workers have bodged efforts to erase obscene graffiti sprayed on to a Swindon park lawn.
The two penises appeared overnight in Queen’s Park. One has been painted on grass just yards from a route often used by families on their way to school.
But rather than mow the graffiti away, members of the council’s StreetSmart team used their own can of green paint to turn one obscene drawing into a butterfly.
The other has been painted over. However, a joker has painted a face onto the grass, turning the giant council-sprayed cone shape into something resembling a man wearing a hat. Another would-be Banksy has sprayed another outline of a penis over the council’s effort. The Adver understands council workers will return to the park to mow over the obscene paintings.
Queen’s Park is owned by Swindon Borough Council, but gardening work is funded by South Swindon Parish Council.
Chris Watts, chairman of the parish council, said: “I think although we appreciate the artistic intent of our employees, we will call them in to have a discussion about this to see if this was the best way of sorting this issue out.”
