HOTELIERS in Newport say they are doing their best to find golf fans an extra nights accommodation as the Ryder Cup enters its forth day today.

Dawn Probert of the Kings Hotel, in High Street, said staff had managed to find rooms for all its Ryder Cup visitors.

But Kayleigh Nicholls of the Holiday Inn Express, Coedkernew, said although the hotel had allocated rooms for the majority of it guests they could not guarantee accommodations for all of them.

She said any guests without a room for Monday night would at least be able to store their luggage at the hotel while they attended the tournament’s last day.

She said: “We will endeavour to the best we can do in the circumstances.”

Teri Hawkins of the Waterloo, in Pill, said she had not experienced the problems hitting many other hotels as the majority of her guests are electricians working at the 2010 course, who were already booked to stay for another three weeks while they de-rig the green.

But her last room was snapped up by one golf fan who said there were very few spare rooms left in the city for Monday night.

Guest house owner, Pat Bees, who runs Labuan House on Chepstow Road said she could accommodate her guests for another night if needed but said it would disrupt her usual trade as most business guests she has want rooms from Monday to Friday.
