LAST week we featured a picture of Commercial Street in Pengam which was taken in 1965.
IT’S Commercial Street, Pengam. I lived right opposite Pengam colliery from 1967 to 1983. Now the school is there.
The train used to fill up with coal and come past our house.
There was the old Bridge just below pic and St David’s church on left, top left was bone chapel and the vicarage next door.

THIS is a photo of Pengam in Monmouthshire.
It’s the line from Newport to Merthyr, it then went onto Brecon. It was known as the Newport, Merthyr line.
My grandmother lived in a house to the left of the photo.
At the top left of the photo, behind the trees, there used to be the Welsh Baptist Chapel. This is where I got married. It is now a house. In the distance is Pengam Pit.
