TIGHTHEAD prop Scott Andrews is delighted to be experiencing starter’s nerves ahead of Wales’ clash with Australia.

The Cardiff Blues front row forward has been named in the XV for tomorrow’s Cardiff clash a week after he put in a big shift against New Zealand.

Andrews played 78 minutes after being called from the bench following Aaron Jarvis’ early knee injury.

And the 23-year-old did well against the All Blacks, scrummaging solidly and grafting hard.

Over the coming hours, however, the prop will endure a different preparation as he attempts to further enhance his reputation.

“When you’re in the team you’re nervous all week during the build-up,” said Andrews. “When I’ve been on the bench I haven’t been quite so nervous even though I know I’d probably get on at some stage.

“I hope to take my chance tomorrow. I wasn’t on the summer tour of Australia but I watched the three Tests and was gutted for the boys. “I could see how much they wanted to win and the performances were really good.

“I know they felt they could have got a win in Australia and this is a big chance to do that and end a disappointing autumn on a high note.

“We’ve got some players in the team who didn’t go to Australia and, like me, they will be chomping at the bit to get stuck in.”

Andrews makes his second start for Wales, the first having come in last year’s 24-18 loss to the Wallabies in Shane Williams’ international farewell in Cardiff.

“It was great to be involved but it was disappointing to lose,” said the prop. “Our set-piece that game wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. We hope to improve on that. The pack Australia have got has played well over the last year, their scrum is pretty good and their line-out is effective.”
