Dragons boost playing budget for next season (From South Wales Argus)

hope it is not too little too late.

We were told earlier this year that the money side of the Dragons was now on a better footing and now that money is being made available for recruitment of some badly needed front five players. So the patience of the faithful seems to be rewarded hope selection is done on a sound basis and we don't simply fill holes with just anyone, quality is a major selection criteria, don't mess it up please.

Lets hope it's not someone who's been on holiday in France, Argentina or South Africa. Or bringing anyone out of retirement like the New Zealand scrum half a few years ago!!

Obviously the NGD management don't know the story about the boy who cried Wolf!

Come on give some credit where it's due. The Dragons announced earlier in the year that the money side of the region had been sorted out and now they indicate they are In the market for some much needed scrummaging players which I thought a lot of posters on this site have been calling for. It shows that the region have been listening and now seem ready and able to take action to put it right so stop all this anti region nonsence and let things happen and then see what becomes of it all.

Great headline news but with DE still in situ nothing will improve. He has had quality to work with and still come up well short of the mark.
Replace him if we really want to progress.

I think Tim is considered to be a bit of a recruitment error. He plays most of his games for Newport. I believe he has been a replacement a few times but not actually started a game for the Dragons?

2 years late, but better late than never. At last some recognition that we cannot function without a strong scrum. It depends how much we have to spend. Fantastic player though he is, the departure of Dan Lydiate will also free up some funds. We are in reasonable nick in the back row so funds can be re-directed for props. Why not be audacious and go for Adam Jones? I hear his mother works locally.

The problem with this story is that we have heard it all before and what top quality players were recruited, none, no doubt the top quality prop will be a spotty 19 year old from abercwmrhubarb nobody has ever heard of

Spaniard has got it spot on because it is another media story that will go nowhere. My only reservation is that this type of story usually emerges in March/April time when they are trying to entice you to buy season tickets.
It is time for a reality check as to the type of players they could attract. With big money in France and England, it will either be someone past their best or an emerging country. As for the former, they have already had too many boosting their pensions.

Terrific news if it happens, albeit at least two years too late. The coaching situation also needs to be sorted, Kingsley is the obvious choice and I'm sure he could attract some decent front rom material from the Eastern European sector.

This sounds like a familiar story thats been told before but nothing came of it the extra money wont be a significant amount otherwise they would be shouting the amount aloud

Like I said on an earlier post, there must be SOME spare cash just look at the talent that has drained away in the last 24 months. Luke, and Aled Brew as well as Willis and the loss of our best Hooker to injury and best prop to West Wales without heavy salary replacements. Theres a good 200,000 to start with! We ought to be able to get at least a good tighthead (maybe on the way down) and a fly half with some nous from Canada or Europe with some of that.

Rumor has it the French clubs are paying 400k wages. We have lost out to second tier English clubs over players in the past they say. Makes you wonder if we can really compete doesn't it? Need some smart recruiting for sure. Maybe our Kingsley can help out?

I think Kingsley is simply a media thing, perhaps he is interested but only on his terms. Lets let things develop but remember what has been suggested by the Dragons. Then if nothing happens by all means go to town on them, but give some credit for trying. On the game against the Blues poor conditions coupled with one silly instinctive grab at the ball cost us the game. Just look at the possession stats and the territory, we won that all hands down, we gained ground almost every time we had possession, one or two obvious penalty offences were missed by the ref in very kick able places, two obvious knock ons missed, but as I have already said that's rugby.

Accept that others may have different views to you and may hope that things can get better. It's only a game and a pastime for us to enjoy in this rather dower world we live in, it's not the end of everything we have friends and family to take much of our lives up and are within our control, but the Dragons are someone else's to manage for good or bad we simply support and hope.

By the way I worked for some 44 years in a professional way of life so can understand the pressures of getting it right which supporters expect from head coaches and players who always try to do their best often in the face of some unfair and severe critisism but that's what they do and expect. I'm sure DE understands and feels the frustration of supporters if only because he would like to keep his job.

Glad you enjoy winding people up. Added to your penchance for personal insults all in all you are a thoroughly unpleasant individual. Still, as long as it makes you happy.

Brought a smile to my face, shows your not all bad. Everyone has views and are entitled to share them but sometimes they need a prod to express them. Please keep in mind that I have no intention to upset anyone just give them a prod now and again. Good idea but we may need a ref, not a WRU one though they may not understand the rules.

Many poster on this forum talk about rugby, but some only talk about sacking the head coach, more about rugby please.
