NEWPORT County AFC’s triumphant season didn’t quite end at Wembley as the club’s Academy U18s team added one more trophy to the cabinet on Thursday night.

Academy Director Glyn Jones’ side won the South West Counties League Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bath City at their Twerton Park stadium.

County included three of this season’s U16s team in their cup final squad and it was one of them – striker Ben Brooks – who knocked in the first-half winner from close range after some great work from fellow forward Tre Marrett.

Bath had a player sent off in the second half following an altercation with County keeper Mathew Swann.
