WALES Under-18s will be looking to emulate the recent exceptional exploits of the Under-20s side when they take on South Africa tomorrow.

Wales U-20s secured a memorable victory over the Baby Boks in the semi-finals of the Junior World Championship thanks to a thrilling 18-17 win in June.

The Under-18s, coached by former Newport guru Allan Lewis, will seek to end their three-match tour of South Africa on a high by beating the hosts.

Wales thrashed France 47-8 in their opening match before losing 17-15 to England, conceding a converted try after the full-time hooter sounded.

Two Newport Gwent Dragons, in winger Ashton Hewitt and loosehead prop Keagan Bale, start the game while fellow Dragons Alex Jeffreys, Luke Garrett, Oliver Griffiths, Angus O’Brien and Tyler Morgan are among the replacements.

The young Boks are the only unbeaten side taking part in these series of games having beaten both England and France.

And Wales team manager Phil John believes his side will have to be at their best to secure another memorable win.

“South Africa have been impressive so far and they will certainly provide a tough test,” he said.

“We’re expecting a physical contest but if we defend like we did against England then we are more than capable of getting the right result.

“We’re really looking forward to the game and hoping to end the tour with a victory.”

The game, at Wellington’s Boland Stadium, kicks-off at 3.30pm local time.
