SARACENS have taken command of Newport Gwent Dragons' group in the LV= Cup.
The Aviva Premiership leaders demonstrated their squad depth to win with a bonus point at London Wasps despite being without their sizeable England contingent.
Saracens scored four tries to lead 24-7 in the final quarter before holding off a late rally by the hosts to win 24-21.
They are the only team in Pool One to have anything to show for their round-one efforts against Pool Four rivals.
The Dragons failed to earn anything from their Friday encounter with the Scarlets and Gloucester suffered the same fate at Northampton on Saturday.
They were thrashed 33-6 at Franklin's Gardens with the Saints bagging a bonus point and Newcastle did the Dragons a favour this afternoon when they edged out London Irish 29-21.
The four pool winners make the semi-finals.
Round two: Dragons v Wasps, Gloucester v Newcastle (both Saturday), Saracens v Scarlets, London Irish v Northampton (both Sunday)
