NEWPORT boxer Sean McGoldrick, a Commonwealth Games gold medal winner at Delhi 2010, and Ebbw Vale table tennis ace Charlotte Carey joined fellow Welsh sporting stars Jazz Carlin and Aled Davies at the launch of the Welsh kit for Glasgow 2014.

Featuring the red, white and green colours of the Welsh flag, Under Armour will supply the leisure wear clothing for the Welsh athletes looking to bring sporting glory back to the nation next year.

Shown off at a recent kit fitting session in Cardiff, for those athletes aiming for selection for next year, Chris Jenkins, CEO of Commonwealth Games Wales, said: “The kit that athletes and support staff will wear for the duration of the Games is one of the most important elements of our preparations.

"We want to ensure that athletes feel both comfortable and proud to wear the kit and we’ve definitely got it right with Under Armour.

“We’re delighted to have received the backing of Under Armour, who already have a fantastic reputation in Wales as the official kit provider for the Welsh rugby team.”

Under Armour are supporting Wales via their UK supplier, Newport-based Total Teamwear.

Damian Cooper, managing director of Under Armour Teamsports said: “Under Armour Teamsports in conjunction with Total Teamwear are delighted and very proud to be the official kit provider for Team Wales for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

"UA stands for performance and we will provide Team Wales with the most innovative products available to allow them to perform at their best.”

Andrew Tynan, director of Newport's Total Teamwear, added: “We are proud to supply Team Wales with kit for the past three Commonwealth Games and at each Games we have looked to raise the bar in quality of the clothing and service we provide. The Under Armour products which we will supply will surpass all expectations.”

Jenkins continued: “The launch and fitting of the kit for some of the athletes likely to be involved in the Games is always a very exciting.

"It’s just another reminder that the event is well on its way and that all the planning and preparations since the Delhi Games are starting to come together."

The selection of athletes to represent Wales will be made by the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales between now and June of next year.
