GERWYN Price will face Andrew Gilding on his return to the William Hill World Darts Championship next month.
The 30-year-old from Markham was knocked out by world number four Peter Wright in last year’s opening round and will return to Alexandra Palace to face the number 28 seed Gilding.
Price, ranked 33rd in the order of merit with winnings of £82,750, enjoyed the biggest win of his career this summer when he knocked Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis out of the World Matchplay in Blackpool.
Last weekend the former Cross Keys and Glasgow rugby player made the second round of the Cash Converters Players Championship Finals in Minehead before being edged out by world number nine Ian White 10-9 in a thriller.
The WDC will see 72 players taking to the oche between December 17 and January 3 for £1.5 million in prize money and the Sid Waddell Trophy.
World number one Michael van Gerwen faces Thanawat Gaweenuntawong or Rene Eidams (64) while the legendary Phil Taylor is up against Keita Ono or Alex Taragao (58).
