DAVID Pipe insists Newport County AFC are ready to take out their frustrations on high-flying Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

County have gone eight games without a win in all competitions and have played more than 500 minutes of football since scoring their last goal – at Lincoln City on January 30.

In stark contrast, Accrington head to Newport having won eight out of 10 games in 2018 to climb to second in the League Two table.

Stanley are 11 places and 17 points better off than the Exiles but Pipe is confident of getting a positive result at Rodney Parade.

“They can fancy it, but we will fancy it as well,” he told iFollow Exiles.

“We fancy playing anyone at our place, whether it be in the cup or the league because we approach every game in the same manner.

“We are ready for them, obviously they will come to Rodney Parade and want to win, I don’t expect anything different from them, but we are more than ready.”

Pipe says County will want to earn the three points they felt they deserved in the reverse fixture in November when Mallik Wilks equalised two minutes before the end for the hosts.

“It actually felt like a loss up there because we were ahead obviously, and they scored late on,” he added.

“I remember being sat in the changing room and it did actually feel a little bit like a loss.

“Hopefully we can turn that bitter taste into three points come the weekend.”
