NEWPORT County AFC will be heading east in the first round of next season’s Carabao Cup after being paired with League Two rivals Cambridge United.
The Exiles proved to be Cambridge’s bogey side last term as Michael Flynn’s men beat the U’s three times, twice in the league and once in the FA Cup.
County won 2-1 at the Abbey Stadium in the league just before Christmas and will be hoping for a similar outcome when they return during the week commencing August 13.
The exact date of the tie, kick-off time and ticket details are set to be announced in due course.
Today’s round one draw took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and was again split into northern and southern sections.
