MICHAEL Flynn insisted that his side deserved all three points after a dramatic finale at Rodney Parade.

Substitute Jamille Matt struck an injury-time winner for Newport County AFC after Notts County sub Kristian Dennis had levelled on 87 minutes.

Kane Hemmings had given the visitors a 12th-minute lead before the Exiles fought back with two goals in three minutes from Fraser Franks and Mark Harris midway through the first half.

“The goals we conceded made the game harder than it should have been – they were two poor goals if I’m honest,” said Flynn.

“But we played some really good football and we deserved the win. We should have been out of sight.

“I’m going to have to go around with a stun gun to liven them up, but they’re a great group and showed character and resilience and kept going.

“I’ve a great group of players and they have to realise how good they can be so they can match their ambition, but at the same time not to get carried away thinking they’re better than they are because football has a reliable habit of biting you on the backside when you think the job’s done.”
