CAI Evans has been released from Wales’ Six Nations squad for game time in the Dragons’ United Rugby Championship clash with Glasgow.

The 24-year-old fly-half/full-back came on in the final stages of last weekend’s 16-14 defeat to England at Twickenham.

Evans has been released for the URC fixture against the Warriors at Scotstoun on Saturday (kick-off 7.35pm) but the Dragons are without the rest of their Wales contingent.

Back rowers Aaron Wainwright and Taine Basham, hooker Elliot Dee, wing Rio Dyer and tighthead Leon Brown remain in camp to prepare for the round three trip to Ireland.

Centre Harri Ackerman, who has made an impression after making his Dragons debut at the end of last year, is also on international duty captaining Wales in the U20 Six Nations.

The Dragons could now field Evans in the XV in Scotland with fly-half Will Reed, 10/15 Angus O’Brien, who is in line for a return from a broken arm, and full-back Jordan Williams the other options.

The Wales international, who won his first cap in the World Cup warm-up against South Africa, has played nine times since heading east from the Ospreys last summer, two of them as starting fly-half and seven with 15 on his back.

Meanwhile, Bath prop Archie Griffin has been released from Wales’ Six Nations squad.

Griffin, who made his Test debut in London, suffered a knee injury during that game.

The Welsh Rugby Union said that the 22-year-old will continue his rehabilitation at Bath, and that a squad replacement would be confirmed in due course.

Keiron Assiratti, Brown and Dillon Lewis are the remaining squad tightheads, although Brown picked up a shoulder knock during the Six Nations opener against Scotland and was not involved at Twickenham.

Wales didn’t pick France-based Tomas Francis and Henry Thomas for this campaign after they were in the World Cup squad.

Dragons tighthead Lloyd Fairbrother played in the uncapped fixture against the Barbarians in November but has missed the last two club games with a calf injury.

Back Tom Rogers, meanwhile, will remain with the Scarlets following a chest injury sustained during their European Challenge Cup victory over Clermont Auvergne on January 13 and will not join up with the national squad.
