RAGLAN and Usk Town were protecting unbeaten records going into their midweek clashes.

Pandy visited Raglan and Chris Lambert put them 1-0 in front in the 5th minute. Raglan levelled on the half hour with an opportunist goal by David Elias, who pounced on a dropped ball by the Pandy keeper who failed to clear from a long cross.

Goals in the second half by Neil Gunter and Kirk Morgan gave Pandy a win and handed Raglan their first defeat.

Raglan quickly got the defeat out of their system when they won 5-1 away to Gilwern.

Gilwern had Matthew Williams sent off for two yellow cards.

Kris Jordan was star man for Raglan, who stay top, while Rhys Williams was pick of sixth-placed Gilwern’s players.

Pandy lost 1-0 at home on Saturday to Llanarth, who visited the Island in midweek and beat Usk Town 3-2.

Dan Wheeler scored the winner and was man of the match at Pandy with Leyton Davies Pandy’s star. Llanarth and second with Usk a place behind.

On Saturday, Pontypool Town got back to winning ways with a 5-2 home win on Albion Road against Usk Town.

Ben Sherwood put Usk in front with a goal after just 30 seconds and Pontypool Town keeper Justin Silver saved a sixth-minute penalty.

Sean Kearns levelled in the 10t minute bit Jamie Swift edged Usk back in front on 25 and they held the lead at the break.

But goals in the second half from Rob Watkins (2), a Richard Gallagher penalty and David Roberts secured the points for Pontypool.

Watkins was Pontypool’s star man while Usk’s was Swift.

Llanfoist drew 2-2 with visitors Crickhowell.

The hosts led 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Kris Morgan and Ben Marshall.

But Crickhowell earned a share of the spoils after strikes from Rob Young and Ben Clarke.

Goalkeeper Darren Rudd was Llanfoist’s man of the match while Gavin Baynton was the pick for Crickhowell, who ended the game with ten men after Owain Jones was dismissed for two yellow cards.

Tranch take over the top position of Division One following their 3-1 away win at PILCS in mid-week and Saturday’s 2-1 away win at Mardy.

The scorers for Tranch at PILCS were Andrew Hayes (2) and Mark Walker.

Man of the Match for PILCS was Ross Berryman with Ricky Ball the pick of Tranch’s side.

Andrew Burchill and Anthony Stevens struck for Tranch on Saturday with Matthew Lynch replying for Mardy.

Neil Woodcock was pick of Mardy’s team while Mark Walker stood out for Tranch.

The match of the day in Division One would have been top placed Panteg, who were set to be at home to third-placed Clydach Wasps, but the leaders’ seniors had pick of the ground for the county side’s Welsh Trophy Cup tie.

PILCS won their local away derby with New Inn 4-2 after overcoming a 2-1 half-time deficit.

Scorers for PILCS were Matthew James (2) and Steve Rogers (2) with Matthew Taylor and Jeff Tozer on the mark for New Inn. The match was very well refereed by John Jenkins.

PILCS move up to third while New Inn are 10th.

Blaenavon Blues took maximum points from their visit to Alexandra Road with a 2-1 away win.

Micky Gallivan scored for Sebastopol and Jason White and Joe Prince hit the target for Blaenavon Blues. Man of the Match for Sebastopol was Andrew Pask. Man of the Match for Blaenavon Blues, Steve White.

The match was very well refereed by stand in referee, John Betts.

Cwmffrwdoer and Race drew 3-3. Goal scorers for Cwmffrwdoer were Kevin Lewis (2) and Shaun Crowley while Andy Pollard (2) and Sean Weaving struck for Race.

Man of the match for Cwmffrwdoer was Lewis while Pollard was Race’s pick. The stand in referee was Shane Thomas.

Fairfield United won 6-1 away at the Ruffetts against Trevethin.

Glenn Rees (4) and Aaron Black were among the goal scorers for United while Nathan Williams netted inn reply.

Man of the Match for Trevethin was Sam Davies with Glenn Rees Fairfield’s star man.

Prescoed go top of Division Two following their 8-1 win on Saturday over Pontypool Town B.

Prescoed led 4-0 at half time. Goal scorers for Prescoed were Clinton Findlay (4), Chris Davies, Tom Canning, Adam Stansfield and Chris Parry. Gavin Hopkins scored the Pontypool Town B goal.

Man of the match for Prescoed was Parry, Man of the Match for Pontypool Town B was Wayne Ottley.

Usk Town B played two and won two this week. In midweek they won 6-1 away to newcomers Fairfield United B. Usk Town B led 4-0 at half time. Goal scorers for Usk Town B were man of the match Matt Ford (2), David Glencross (2), Shaun Harding and Jack Parrish. Jake Thomas scored a consolation goal for Fairfield United B, whose man of the match was Russell Williams.

On Saturday, Blaenavon B visited the Island to take on Usk Town B.

At half-time Usk Town B had established a 2-0 lead and went on to win 4-2. Goal scorers for Usk Town were David Glencross (2), Daniel Jones and Shaun Taylor while Matthew Cox and Richard Williams struck for Blaenavon.

Fourteen goals were scored in the derby match between two league newcomers - Mardy B vs Pandy B.

Five goals went to home side Mardy B but a massive nine goals went to Pandy B.

Scorers for Mardy B were Steven Jones (2), Kyle Skinner, Tom Hughes plus a Shane Rayburn own goal and Pandy B’s efforts came from Gareth Staphnill (3), Rob Didcote (3), Shane Hughes (2) and Ashley Powel.l Clydach B and Fairfield B drew 0-0.
