Joe Calzaghe has once again rejected a comeback to the ring, despite being called out by a guy who went 12 rounds with Rocky Balboa.

Calzaghe, incredibly undefeated in 46 fights before his retirement more than three years ago, was embroiled in a Twitter spat with American great Antonio Tarver.

Tarver, nicknamed ‘the magic man’ is still active at 42 and recently beat Australian Danny Green after two gruelling defeats to Chad Dawson.

And now Tarver, who starred as Mason Dixon in the 2007 Rocky film ‘Rocky Balboa’, wants Calzaghe to return to the ring.

"I was the only one that could beat him, that’s why he avoided me," he said.

"He got dropped by Roy (Jones) and (Bernard) Hopkins, I would’ve knocked out feather punching Joe Calzaghe.

"He couldn’t beat me period and I hate I didn’t get a chance to prove it."

Calzaghe still works out regularly with his father Enzo, as revealed exclusively in the Argus, and believes that "physically" he could return as good as ever. But he is once again keen to distance himself from a ring return.

"In your dreams, Antonio, didn’t you get destroyed by Hopkins before I beat him?

"I love how fighters are calling me out three years after I quit," he continued.

"I get it, it’s all about money and a payday."

Calzaghe had the last word and revealed that Tarver has missed the boat as far fighting the Newbridge two-weight world champion is concerned.

"The truth is I was fighting the winner of you and Bernard Hopkins and you lost! For the record, I would have kicked your ...!"

Enzo Calzaghe insists there is no prospect of his son returning to the ring whatever money is offered.

"Joe can still go and even after not fighting for three years he would have way too much for Tarver," he said. "But what would it prove? That Joe is better than a guy we already know he is better than? People need to move on because Joe certainly has.

"He isn’t interested in returning, it would only be for the money and that doesn’t drive his thinking.

"He just wants to be remembered for what he did and his legacy is clear. It’s about time these guys just left him in peace, he doesn’t want that life anymore and I don’t want it for him."
