Newport County have announced that midfielder Danny Rose is set to join Blue Square Bet Premier promotion hopefuls Fleetwood Town.

In a statment issued this evening, chairman Chris Blight told supporters: "Further to our recent statement regarding Danny Rose, I can confirm that Newport County AFC and Danny Rose have agreed full terms with Fleetwood Town FC.

"All administration work will be completed on the first day of the opening of the transfer window.

"This is a result of a successful visit by Danny to Fleetwood in the last 48 hours.

"A further statement will be issued by the club in the next 24 hours."

A statement on the Fleetwood website reads: "Fleetwood Town have landed Newport County’s much sought after, attacking midfielder Danny Rose.

"A deal has been agreed by both clubs to take the 23-year-old England C captain to Highbury once the transfer window opens at midnight on New Years’ Eve.

"Town have beaten off several interested league clubs to his signature and are delighted that Danny has chosen to further his career at Highbury.

"Personal terms have been agreed with the player ending a three year spell at Spytty Park which saw him appear in the FA Cup for Newport earlier this season.
