CROSS Keys head coach Greg Woods has penned a new deal that extends his stay at Pandy Park until at least 2014.

Keys are well-placed for a second successive top-six finish in the Premiership and next weekend they will host Llanelli in the quarter-finals of the British and Irish Cup.

“The progress that the club has made under Greg is there for all to see,” said Cross Keys secretary Chris Clarke.

“His man management skills are superb and he commands the respect of both the squad and the committee.”

“He has caught the eye of others but he is a Cross Keys boy and wants to keep driving us forward.

“Greg is the spearhead of a superb coaching team of Jonathan Westwood, Mark Ring, Alun Harries and Mark Prangel. They are all key figures going into the next two years.

“We are heading into a new Premiership set-up (the top flight is being cut to 12 clubs next season) and we are looking to build on what we have achieved over the past couple of seasons.

“We believe securing the services of Greg is an important step towards doing that.”

Meanwhile, Keys’ cross-border encounter with Llanelli on Saturday, January 21 will be televised live on S4C (kick-off 6.30pm).

Keys are also offering half-price admission to the game to season ticket holders of other Gwent clubs.
