NEWPORT County have decided not to appeal against Ryan Charles’ red card at Luton Town on Saturday.

Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh said after the match that he would watch the incident on video with a view to challenging referee Karl Evans’ decision.

But County director of football Tim Harris confirmed to the Argus that the club has now decided against such a move and the striker will serve a three-match ban.

Luton’s Jake Howells, who is Charles’ former housemate, struggled to excuse his old friend after the dismissal for a two-footed challenge on Dan Gleeson.

The Hatters netted their first moments later and Howells said: “I just said to him, it’s a stupid challenge, there’s no need to do it.

“It’s his debut for Newport and he’s trying to get a permanent contract there but you can’t be going into tackles like that.”

Meanwhile, Edinburgh hopes to tie up his latest signing today.

If the deal goes ahead it will mean the arrival of a League Two midfielder on a one-month loan.
