CROSS Keys are in smoking hot form as the good times continue to roll at Pandy Park and they look to climb to second in the league, writes Iwan Davies.

A victory over Carmarthen Quins could see Keys trail just Llandovery come around four o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

Greg Woods’ men are going in search of their sixth consecutive Principality win on the bounce.

Their bright young head coach this week signed a new deal to keep him with Keys until 2014.

He hopes his men maintain their momentum, especially with next weekend’s big British & Irish Cup quarter-final at Pandy Park in front of the S4C television cameras on the horizon.

And Woods revealed that securing silverware is the goal for the ambitious club this campaign.

“Winning a trophy is the ultimate aim and we are challenging on all three front this season,” he said.

And although he’s pleased to be at the helm of a happy ship, Woods admitted he wasn’t best pleased with their last two unconvincing triumphs over Bedwas by 12-3 and the 27-22 success against Pontypool last weekend.

“Keys is a fantastic place to be at the moment but we have been a bit off our game with Bedwas and Pontypool and some harsh words have been said,” he remarked.

Quins will be no mugs and beat Keys at Pandy Park last season.

They recorded a stunning 38-19 win over Neath last week and have claimed some impressive scalps this campaign.

Keys have to make do without their talismanic outside-half Steffan Jones who is in Catalan country this weekend with the Newport Gwent Dragons for their match with Perpignan.

Back row pair Rhys Williams (foot) and Cae Trayhern (stomach) are both still missing but hooker Gerwyn Price is set to return after recovering from a hamstring problem.

Keys were unable to confirm their side last night because they are waiting on a number of late fitness tests.
