NEWPORT County manager Justin Edinburgh is busy attempting to add the final touches to his squad after an amazing victory at Gateshead on Saturday.

Two goals in injury time saw County fight back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against the stunned Tynesiders, who were reduced to 10 men at the death.

Liam Hatch and Jon Shaw put the hosts in charge at the Gateshead International Stadium, but goals from Elliott Buchanan, Sam Foley and a 94th-minute winner from super sub Jake Harris sealed a memorable victory.

Edinburgh was delighted with his side’s gritty display but is still looking to add one or two more signings before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Winger Romone Rose did not feature in Gateshead but is expected to be available for the FA Trophy clash with Carshalton Athletic this coming Saturday.

"We are still waiting for international clearance and obviously he’s been out in Thailand so it’s proving more difficult than we’d hoped," explained Edinburgh.

"I hope to have another two in before Tuesday. We’ve got one or two that we’re talking to and we’re in advanced stages of discussions."

The Exiles boss was full of praise for his team after the stunning turnaround in the North East.

"We’d have settled for the draw when we got the penalty but two strikers today had one chance and took it," he said. "We were clinical and that changed the game.

"It was disappointing because I felt we didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down.

"The position they are in it would have been easy for them to lie down and crumble but we showed immense strength and desire and character. It shows we’re building here now and I’m absolutely delighted.

"We’ve had a turnaround of personnel this month and the spirit is very good right now," he added.

The three points lifted County to 21st in the table, still two points from safety but with games in hand on those above them.

"As long as it’s in our own hands we won’t panic and we have three games in hand over a lot of teams around us," said Edinburgh.
