Newport speedway rider Joel Parsons is looking for a set of bagpipes!

The 21-year-old Australian, from Broken Hill in New South Wales, is an accomplished bagpipes player, having finished fourth in an all-Australian four-man pipe competition which was held in his home state.

And (Mc)Parsons has promised to play at the Everest Group Wasps end-of-season bash which is being held at the Hayley Stadium a week on Saturday.

Parsons, who has been a hit riding at reserve for the Wasps this summer, wants to show the fans that he is also an accomplished musician.

He said: "I would rather get a set of pipes, which cost in the region of £1,000, in the Newport area rather than rather than bring them all the way from Hull where I live.

"If anyone could help me I can meet them at the stadium."

Parsons, who reads pipe music, added: "If I can get a set then I can really show the fans what I can do."

Parsons, who played the pipes for seven or eight years, added: "My father was a snare drummer in a pipe band in Broken Hill and I just liked the sound so I started playing.

"My brother Phil also played the snare drum and so did my sisters who sing and play guitars."

Anyone who can help Parsons in his hour of need should contact 07976755684.

- Newport promoter Tim Stone is staging a training school at the track on Sunday from 11am-3pm.
