DRAGONS V LEINSTER (Saturday, KO 7.30)

WALES Under-20s young guns Jack Dixon and Jon Evans are back in the Newport Gwent Dragons fray for Saturday’s RaboDirect Pro12 finale against Leinster.

On Monday the pair were named in the squad for this summer’s Junior World Championship in South Africa.

Centre Dixon, 17, made his Pro12 debut off the bench against Munster in March.

Scrum-half Evans, 19, featured just three times off the bench for the region this season after enduring an injury-plagued campaign They join fellow teenager Hallam Amos, who started against the Ospreys last time out, in a 28-man squad.

“After exposing them to regional rugby it’s important that we carry that through,” said head coach Darren Edwards.

“Our young guys have a big four months ahead of them so that they are playing a big role next season.

“We have exposed them to rugby at a high level and now the hard work starts.

“It’s all about building on their performance game on game, something that Hallam did very well against the Ospreys.

“They had a few line breaks and he dealt with them very well in the back field.

“Hallam is growing in maturity there and that makes it important that he gets back out there and builds on that performance at the Liberty Stadium.

“Saturday is the chance for our young players to put a platform in place for pre-season. We have got to see some good parts in our game that we can build on ready for the start of the next campaign.”

The Dragons are without wing Tonderai Chavhanga, who had minor knee surgery after suffering a blow against the Ospreys.

Summer leavers Martyn Thomas, Aled Brew, Jason Tovey and Luke Charteris are included in the squad.

The Dragons are currently 10th in the table but could climb to eighth if they win and Connacht and Treviso slip up against Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively.
