NEWPORT County’s players will prepare for their date with destiny at Wembley Stadium by training at one of the top facilities in the country, writes Michael Pearlman.
The Exiles travelled in their special team bus yesterday for a two night stay in London ahead of tomorrow’s FA Trophy final with York City.
The Exiles are trying to ensure their preparation is as professional as possible and as such have secured Bisham Abbey, a regular training venue for both the England football and rugby teams.
Club sides who have used the venue before includes the name FCB Barcelona and County’s director of football Tim Harris is hopeful the facility will be a further boost to the players.
“We are trying to keep everything as professional as we possibly can, hopefully it will give the players a lift as well,” he said.
“They are in high spirits but it’s important to keep everything as professional as possible and that is why we were keen to secure the best training facilities that we could.”
The Exiles contacted Premier League giants Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea about using their training grounds but it wasn’t possible due to this being the final week of the Premier League campaign.
