NEWBRIDGE’S former Commonwealth champion Bradley Pryce will challenge Ferndale's Barrie Jones for his Welsh light-middleweight title at the Newport Centre in February.

The contest will be the chief support to Craig Kennedy's final eliminator for the British title against London's Tony Conquest on Saturday, February 6.

Jones is on a good run of form having recaptured the Welsh title with a TKO victory over Newport’s Jerome Samuels in March this year and defended it with another stoppage win over challenger James Lilley in October.

Pryce however will not be intimidated having mixed at a high level including fights against Frankie Gavin, Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jnr.

The 34-year-old former Team Calzaghe member held the Commonwealth middleweight belt between 2006 and 2009 and will want to recapture the Welsh title in front of an all Welsh crowd.

Britain's most sensational prospect Andrew Selby will also feature on the card after securing two stoppage victories in three fights since turning professional in October.

The British Boxing Board of Control have ordered the St Joseph’s star, younger brother of IBF featherweight world champ Lee, to fight in a final eliminator contest for the British flyweight title against Scotland's Iain Butcher.

Cwmbran’s Jamie Arthur will also make his second appearance in the ring since returning from a three year break.

Last time out Arthur employed a slick style to outbox Croatian Antonio Horvatic in Newport and another good win in February could put him back in contention for domestic titles in 2016.

Unbeaten Mountain Ash prospect Tony Dixon steps up in class to fight Irishman Dean Byrne, while former amateur star Morgan Jones is also in action.

And light-heavyweight duo Nathan Thorley and Jermaine Asare will look to keep their unbeaten records intact.

Both boxers won bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Delhi respectively and are now three fights unbeaten as professionals.

The Sanigar Events show will also see welterweight southpaw Sonny Lee make his professional debut after a successful Welsh amateur career.

Tickets cost £30 for unreserved seating or £50 to £60 for VIP ringside spots. They are available from all boxers or from the box office on 0117 9496699.
