TORFAEN Warriors ABC had great success at the Bristol Box Cup, bringing two gold medals and a silver back to Wales.

Danny Thomas, fighting in the 11 years 35kg category, was one of those Warriors boxers to strike gold.

He beat a talented English fighter unanimously on points to make it eight wins in as many bouts.

Not to be outdone, clubmate William Bennett also secured a first place prize.

Bennett was crowned the 12 years 39kg champion thanks to a second round stoppage at the South Gloucestershire& Stroud College’s West of England Institute of Specialist Education.

The third Warriors medal came via Jordi Brookman, who reached the final of the 13 years 41kg category but lost on a split decision.

It was an excellent way for the Cwmbran club’s youngsters, mentored by head coach Simon Weaver, to finish their season.

Chloe Thomas, the Warriors’ Welsh champion and GB Boxing development squad member, will look to collect another medal for the club this weekend.

Thomas is bidding for back-to-back titles at the Haringey Box Cup, which runs from Friday to Sunday.

Last year, not only did she claim 57kg gold, Thomas was named the tournament’s best female fighter.
