THIS is my final column of the season and it really has flown by but I know the next few weeks will go by even quicker – with the dreaded pre-season awaiting us!

It will be the tenth time for me at the Dragons and all the years seem to have been merged together with many good memories and friends picked up along the way.

As we approach the final game of the season at Munster tomorrow this is also the time of the year where players are leaving and new players – it’s a big period of change.

Our recent club dinner was a great success with our player of the year going to one of the most consistent performers in the squad – James Thomas.

It was also a time to celebrate several landmarks being made – Jason Tovey and I celebrating our 100 caps and Tom Prydie, Nic Cudd, Pat Leach, Jon Evans, Phil Price and Hallam Amos achieving their 50th.

And our annual barbecue this weekend will be an emotional time for a few having jerseys presented, and saying farewell to players retiring or off to pastures new.

I’m not going anywhere though and at the moment my injury is as good as can be.

Now I've been given the all clear to 'crack on' the rehab, physio and conditioning is now being ramped up another level.

Apart from being left with a few scars, the wrist operation was a great success.

Even though the range will never be back to what it once was, it may only limit certain aspects of training and conditioning.

I’m looking forward to next season now to get back into the swing and start passing a rugby ball again!

Regaining my fitness is my main priority so there are not many plans for the summer as of yet besides cracking on with Life Education, the Race the Sun Brecon event and getting away to see friends and family for long weekends.

You never know, we might even get some sun in Newport and I can top up the vitamin D levels in my own back garden!

It was announced recently that Ashley Smith and me will be starting our benefit year from January 1 next year and we really appreciate the club celebrating our ten years of being able to represent our home town and region.

Having a few events throughout the year and a pre-season match will be great and we're looking forward to celebrating with friends, family and supporters.

It makes next season even more exciting for me but first and foremost I just can wait to run out and represent the Dragons again.

Pre-season? Bring it on!
