IN Section A Millennium A beat Newport Asians by 5 wickets. Ashan made 64 for Newport Asians as they made a useful 156 - 8 total. Zulfiquar Ali took 3 - 25.

The Millenium reply faltered early but a partnership of 100 between Mo Arshad (53) and Varun (49 not out) got them home in the last over. Kapil took three wickets for Newport Asians.

Sudbrook continue to go well after beating Panteg by eight wickets. Panteg were restricted to just 90 - 9 on a good wicket thanks to Martin Norton (3 - 17) and Jay Bajada (2 - 20). Will Mayers top scored with 31 for Panteg.

Sudbrook got off to a good start thanks to Jon lewis (25) and skipper Matt Spencer (28 not out) which saw their team home comfortably.

In Section B leaders K2 met second place Kings XI and Kings won by 30 runs. Praveen, with 72 and Khurrum Khan, with 57 helped Kings amass 163 - 3. In reply K2, led by Ahtesham Awaan (32) started well but were undone by a great spell from Imran with 5 - 17. Youngster Danny Harrison again got runs for St Julians Inn with 68 out of 139 - 5.

This proved to be enough to beat Caerleon Saints by 37 runs.

Maindee A beat Tredegar House by 52 runs thanks to Shezhad Iqubal (37) while all the rest of the batsman chipped in.

Clive Moran made a spirited 43 for Tredegar House but Maindee’s bowlers proved too much, particularly Amar Aslam (3 - 29) and Ashish Tyagi (3 - 21).

In Section C IR Newport continue to go well after beating Prince of Wales, Risca by eight wickets. Mike Pye (42) and Graeme Hughes (35) got most of the runs required after an accurate bowling display kept POW to 97.

Solutia won for the third week in a row after beating Maindee B by seven wickets.

Rob Franklin was man-of-the-match with 4 - 27 in the Maindee innings and he followed it up with 35 not out. Craig Barton also had a good day with 27 and 2 - 21.

R&B Social were also winners after beating Millennium B by seven wickets. Daffyd Williams took four wickets as Millennium were restricted to 95, then Jezz Parsons (25) and Dave Burgess (28) scored freely as R&B won with five overs to spare.

The league are hosting the Cardiff Midweek League at Spytty Park on Monday, July 5, at 6pm.
