NEWPORT Gwent Dragons Under-18s followed the lead of the region’s seniors when they beat Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park.

The young Dragons triumphed 33-16 in the WRU Regional Championship to make it two successes on the bounce following their victory against RGC 1404 in November.

It was level-pegging after 20 minutes in the capital with Dragons fly-half Arwel Robson and opposite number Callum Hall enjoying two successes from the tee each.

The visitors were in command when converted tries by wing George Gasson and hooker Ellis Ship put them 20-6 up.

Wing Teri Morgan Gee responded for the hosts but speedster Lloyd Lewis, who scored a cracker for Cross Keys at the Arms Park in the Premiership, went over to give the Dragons a 25-13 lead at the break.

Hall and Robson traded penalties early in the second half before Gasson’s second try on 57 minutes secured the spoils for the Dragons, who host the Scarlets in Ystrad Mynach next Wednesday.
