With the Welsh Premier League celebrating its 20th season, the Football Association of Wales has created the WPL Hall of Fame – and two Gwent heroes have been inducted.

Tony Wilcox and Chris Summers, two famous Cwmbran Town names from the past, were the pair chosen to receive the special honour.

The late Wilcox was widely regarded throughout the league as ‘Mr Cwmbran’ having managed the Crows for 11 years, guiding the club to the championship in the inaugural season of 1992-93 and presiding over several European adventures.

Wilcox died in April 2003, leaving his wife Angela, daughter Sophie and son Ross.

Angela received the Hall of Fame trophy from club president John Colley.

Summers has scored goals for every club he’s played for, and during four spells with the Crows he notched 84 goals in 122 appearances.

In season 2003/04 he set a new league record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches for the club and his total record in the WPL reads 177 goals in 243 appearances.

Wilcox and Summers join other famous WPL names such as Efion Williams, Nigel Adkins, Steve Evans, Lee Trundle, Marc Lloyd-Williams and Rhys Griffiths in the Hall of Fame.
