I READ with disbelief the suggestion by councillor Pat Hackett that the green "dips" at New Brighton may be converted into car parks.

The dips are among the better attractions of the resort and are one the reasons why folk come here.

Cover them with asphalt, and fewer people will want to come, and therefore the need for parking space will drop!

And for most of the year, the proposed car parks will be empty and unused: an ugly eyesore and a blight on the town.

Enough of New Brighton has already been turned into concrete: kick this ill-thought-out proposal into the adjacent Irish Sea before it gets any further.
