COUNTY manager Peter Beadle praised his team for learning their lesson after Saturday's 2-0 win against St Albans.

As teachers up and down the UK beam with pride as A level and GCSE results are revealed, Beadle will enjoy a similar feeling of satisfaction after his team won for the first time this term.

His side bounced back from a lacklustre display against Maidenhead in midweek to comfortably beat St Albans on Saturday, thanks to goals from Julian Alsop and Jason Bowen.

The Exiles used the ball more intelligently and were good value for the win, to Beadle's delight.

He explained: "Our final ball was poor at times in the first half, we lacked the extra quality I know we have, but we won the game with a clean sheet so I am happy.

"We learned our lesson (from midweek), in the second half we controlled the game and totally dominated.

"We got back to basics, we looked strong, took our goals very well and could have scored four or five with a bit more luck.

"We never looked under any real danger and our goalkeeper had a very good game.

"He's looking more and more confident, he made some great saves and the defence are doing really well.

"If we move the ball quickly we will create things and I thought we looked really solid in the second half."

The boss is confident his side can keep their unbeaten run going.

"Collectively the team are improving and we look solid, a team is going to have to play really well to beat us and that wasn't always the case last season," he said.

"Our work rate is superb at the moment and with a bit of tinkering here and there we'll get even better.

"It is nice to put three points on the board and for now I am happy, as are the lads."

The boss also praised County's supporters, over 1,000 in attendance again.

"They were fantastic today and I think they'll be encouraged by what they saw.

"They are vitally important to us home and away and if they keep coming in such large numbers and creating a positive atmosphere, this will be a place no one wants to come."
