CAPTAIN Rynard Landman says Newport Gwent Dragons need to get their own house in order rather than worry about what awaits them in Glasgow a week on Friday after a disappointing start to the campaign.

The Dragons have made a sluggish opening to the Guinness Pro12, losing at Connacht and Leinster and spluttering to victory against Zebre at Rodney Parade.

While it’s far from a disaster to have gone down to defeat in Galway and Dublin, two notoriously tough places to visit, the performances in the first throws of the Pro12 have left a lot to be desired.

On Saturday they were hammered 37-13 by a Leinster side without 17 players at the World Cup and next up they travel to Scotland to face a Warriors side currently without 21 but who still looked sharp when edged out in Munster last Friday.

Landman believes that while they must do their homework on Gregor Townsend’s reigning champions, the emphasis must be on their own game.

“Glasgow are a good side but we need to sort ourselves out rather than worrying about who we are playing,” said the south African lock, who is set to continue to deputise for injured skipper Rhys Thomas.

“It’s all about us because at the moment we are beating ourselves with our mistakes. If you want to be a team that guns for the top six then your basics have to be right and we are not there at the moment.

“We have to sort out our kicking game, our attacking patterns and value the ball. It all comes down to individual responsibility.

“Good teams create five opportunities and score four while we are creating but not finishing. That’s not good enough if we want to climb the table.

“We need to man-up and keep going. We can’t start blaming each other, we just have to all improve individually and put in better performances, then hopefully the wins will come.”

The Dragons were doubled by the champions last year but they have enjoyed their league trips to Glasgow more than anywhere else – they have won six, drawn one and lost five of their 12 away encounters with the Warriors.
