A GROUP of youths have been criticised for anti-social behaviour, including starting a fire.

Police are investigating the incident which took place yesterday under George Street Bridge in Newport.

The youths believed to be responsible

A woman, who witnessed the event, said: "The fire was under George Street Bridge. Those responsible were also throwing bricks at a homeless man's tent.

"We heard loud bangs, which frightened my daughter, so I looked out the window to see what was going on and saw flames from the fire.

"I rang the fire services and walked to check on the tent, which was - luckily - empty at the time."

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) and Gwent Police have confirmed they attended to the scene.
