INSP Mark J Smith

Hi, I am Mark Smith, Inspector for Blackwood Neighbourhood Policing. Having spent 5 years with the RAF Police, I joined South Wales Police in 1993 and transferred to Gwent Police in 1996. I have worked in many parts of the Gwent force area at stations including Newport Central, Police HQ Cwmbran, Bedwas, Caerphilly, Lansbury Park, Bargoed, Rhymney and Blackwood. During my career I have experience in Uniform Patrol, CID, Crime Team, Custody Unit and Roads Policing.

PC Gareth Jones

Hi, I’m Gareth Jones and I have been a police officer since 1996. I have been involved in neighbourhood policing in various roles since 2000. I am stationed at Blackwood Police station as a Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer and have responsibility for the Blackwood and Ystrad Mynach Police sections.

PC Sharon Bufton

Hi, I am PC Sharon Bufton and I am the Ward Officer for the Pontllanfraith ward. I joined Gwent Police in 2006 where I was stationed in Ystrad Mynach as a regular officer.  I worked as a Neighbourhood Response Officer prior to joining the Caerphilly Borough Pro Active Team and Crime Tasking Team at Blackwood.

CSO Colin Davies

I have been a CSO for 8 years. I spend 18 months in Abertillery and the rest of my time as the Neighbourhood Police Community Support Officer for Pontlllanfraith ward -based at Blackwood Police Station. I worked at Alcan for 15 years prior to my CSO role and am a qualified painter and decorator.
