IAN Felice is the lead-singing middle son in Catskill Mountains' finest Americana tearaways, The Felice Brothers.

Former member Simone, his elder brother by five years, returns as producer and drummer, while James, the youngest by three years, takes part in the recordings too, along with fellow founder member Josh Rawson.

However, In The Kingdom Of Dreams, predominantly sparse and acoustic, is very much a debut solo album, personal to Ian, for all the involvement of the Felice family.

His wise and witty lyrics put you in mind of Bob Dylan, his voice is redolent of Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, and exquisite melancholia is the predominant mood in a series of memories of childhood and memories still to come that may be the stuff of an unreliable witness, or more accurately reflect how memories change through the years, distorted by ever-changing recollection as stories are told and re-told, as fact blurs with dreams.

All the bells would ring, if I were king, sings Felice, and perhaps this is the place we put ourselves when recalling our lives.

Ian Felice plays Leeds Brudenell Social Club on November 30
