A PONTYPOOL-BASED housing association has helped a south Wales contractor enrol their staff on an educational programme to improve their upskilling.
Melin Homes recently helped workers from Gibson STS with their Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management (Edexcel) after it became apparent by Melin’s Learning team that it would benefit the company and the contracts they work on to upskill staff.
Peter Williams, a senior technical manager at Gibson STS who has just started the course said “This is a great opportunity to educate the team, it will give us a different perspective and help us manage tasks more effectively.”
Karen Green from Melin Homes added “This is a great opportunity for companies to upskill.
“Funding through programmes like this is so important not only for individual progression but for the development of small and medium enterprises.”
The Upskilling@Work programme is supported by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government the course has been funded by 70%.
