THE adage “it’s an ill wind that blows no-one some good”, certainly applies to recent events regarding the (alleged) tanker strike.
Thanks to the ‘ fuel’-ish comments by members of our government, the Exchequer received an unexpected windfall in tax on sales at the garage forecourts, plus the corporate tax from the profits on the rush of oil sales, (no doubt resulting in huge bonuses all round).
The one lesson Mr Cameron should have learnt by now is, if there isn’t a panic, DON’T tell the public not to!
