ON October 28, we ran the second Newport marathon/ half-marathon in good weather. I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big THANK YOU to all the organisers, sponsor, supporters and runners for a sporting moment in Newport.
Well done to Nicola Shaw and family for sticking with it. A sporting commitment from Sytner Newport with a very kind donation. To Joseph Cuff, staff members and volunteers from Diabetes Cardiff who came on-board at very short notice to provide expertise, marshalls, signage/advertising, feed/drinks stations, finishers medal/T-shirts/running vests. To secure a marathon for Newport City in the future is important. The history of road running in Newport is immense. The total success of the Park Run, Tredegar House, organised by Llisw-erry Runners every Satur-day is testament to that. With Steve Jones at Cardiff half two weeks earlier, why not Newport next year? The weekend has competition from Snowdonia (Saturday) and Dublin (Monday) marathons but to get out of bed at 8am, drive 10 minutes and to run at 9am after a quick cup of coffee was so easy. I ran Dublin last year so saved myself £700 this year. Many thanks once again to everyone supporting the Marathon. See you next year.
