This well- used library is situated in an area with a high density of elderly people.
Books and reading become a great part of people’s lives as they become older and less mobile. There will also be a loss felt by mothers with young children who frequently use the library after school; and the use of a computer at the library will no longer be available to those who are not lucky enough to own one. If this library closes The Hand Post Book Club will be unable to request and collect their books and their inability to continue will be a great cultural loss. The money saved by this closure will be very insignificant as it is open only four days a week and it seems that only one member of staff is employed. The loss to the public will be out of all proportion to the small amount of money saved.
